The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, London, is very pleased to announce that the English folk/punk artist Frank Turner will be visiting its campus on Thursday 8th May to give an exclusive masterclass to students.

Frank’s association with the Institute began last year when he judged the Shure Songwriting Award, selecting two budding songwriters for scholarships at the school. Now he will meet the winners and talk to them and other students from a range of courses about his passion for Songwriting. Frank will play through a selection of his songs and discuss their structure, technique and influence as well as giving the students the opportunity to ask any questions they have about his career.

Over the last year in particular, Frank has been travelling around and connecting with both current and potential audiences and genuinely enjoys doing so. Of his visit to the Institute, he said: "I'm happy and excited to be heading over to the Institute for a Songwriting Workshop. Songwriting is my profession and my passion, and I could talk about it until the cows come home, so hopefully I can share some tips and ideas with the students."

Since the demise of Million Dead, the hardcore quartet he fronted, Frank has been on a constant upward curve. His fourth album, 2011’s England Keep My Bones, sold more than 100,000 copies and entered the UK Charts at number 12. Its follow-up, last year’s Tape Deck Heart ushered in a new level of success. It entered the UK Charts at Number 2 and the iTunes Charts at Number 1 and has sold 200,000 copies so far. With this release, everything on a ‘Successful Album Campaign’ checklist has been struck: a high billing on the main stage at the Reading and Leeds festivals, the Radio 1 A-List, the Radio 1 Live Lounge, a sold-out UK arena tour and he even won Celebrity Mastermind, with Iron Maiden as his specialist subject.
