Best-selling artists Frank Turner and Billy Bragg teamed up yesterday for a one-off busk in aid of Shelter’s emergency appeal to help Britain’s 80,000 homeless children this Christmas.

Tonight they both perform together for an exclusive sold out gig at Wilton’s Music Hall, also to raise money for Shelter.

Billy and Frank were shocked to learn that 80,000 children will wake up homeless this Christmas morning, and the proceeds from both performances will help Shelter to continue their work supporting homeless families. The charity’s helpline is open every day of the year, answering calls for help from those at risk of losing their homes or living in temporary bed and breakfasts or hostels.

Frank Turner said: “I've done a fair bit of work with Shelter over the years and I think what they do is fantastic and important; a society as affluent as ours could and should be able to make sure everyone has a stable roof over their heads. Bring Billy into the equation and it's a great way to sign off for the year and get ready for Christmas.”

Billy Bragg said: “The work that Shelter does is essential every day of the year, but never more so than at Christmas time. I am privileged to have the opportunity to join forces with Frank Turner in helping highlight and support the crucial work that they do.”

To support Shelter’s Christmas appeal visit shelter.org.uk or text HOME to 87080 and donate £3 to answer a call for help.

Frank Turner released his fifth studio album ‘Tape Deck Heart’ earlier this year reaching Number 2 in the official UK album chart. He kicks off 2014 with his biggest ever headline tour throughout February playing the huge London O2 Arena as well as other impressive arenas in Cardiff, Manchester, Nottingham and more.

This show in support of Shelter brings to a close an exceptional year for Billy Bragg with the release of his critically acclaimed new studio album 'Tooth& Nail', winner of the Radio 2 Folk Awards 'Roots Award' and the Association of Independent Music 'Outstanding Contribution to Music award'. After dates in Australia & New Zealand in March 2014, his marathon eighteen month 'Tooth & Nail' tour culminates at Hammersmith Apollo on May 1st 2014.
