Former The Who manager Chris Stamp dies aged 70

Chris Stamp, the man Roger Daltrey says is the very reason The Who happened, has died from cancer at the age of 70.

Stamp co-managed and produced The Who and Jimi Hendrix in the 60s. He is also the co-founder of Track Records, the label The Who and Hendrix recorded for.

Chris Stamp was the business partner of Kit Lambert and together they made The Who and Hendrix famous. He is listed as Executive Producer for The Who’s ‘Tommy’ ‘Quadrophenia’ and ‘Who’s Next’ albums.

Track also released ‘Fire’ by ‘The Crazy World of Arthur Brown’ as well as albums by Labelle and Golden Earring.

His wife of 33 years, Calixte and two daughters as well as his brother, actor Terence Stamp, survive Chris.
