Fergie has "no idea" about motherhood.

The pregnant singer appeared on Good Morning America yesterday where she gushed about her excitement for her new arrival.

She also spoke candidly about feeling unprepared for the arrival of her first child.

"I have no idea what I'm doing," Fergie admitted. "I'm just going to play it by ear and see how things go, and let the natural instincts kick in."

Fergie is starting to settle into the idea of being a mom. The star laughed about her husband Josh Duhamel's description of her reaction when the couple received their big baby news.

"We're thrilled," Fergie said. "I know that my husband told everybody what I said. My quote when we found out: 'This "blank" just got real.' But it's true, when that moment occurs to you, there's going to be a human being growing inside of you... it's reality. It's amazing; we're thrilled."

The Black Eyed Peas singer announced her happy news on Twitter in mid-February. Her pregnancy hasn't been entirely smooth sailing since.

"I had a little bit [of morning sickness] in the beginning. But very little," Fergie shared.

"[To combat sickness] I've been doing acupuncture, which really helps with that and Chinese herbs."

While Fergie has slowed the pace of her career to focus on becoming a mom, she confirmed she is still writing music when she can. As well as launching her new Wet n Wild Perfect Pout V.I. Pink lip colour, the star has been trying to pen tracks for The Black Eyed Peas when she gets inspired.

Speaking about how confused her writing method used to be, she said: "I could have one thought and it be so weird and have nothing to do with anything that's going on in my life."
