Fergie's son doesn't understand who Santa is, but loves saying "ho, ho ho".

The Black Eyed Peas star and her husband Josh Duhamel are the proud parents of 14-month-old Axl and can't wait to celebrate the festive season with him.

The 39-year-old singer is pretty sure the tot doesn't understand what all the fuss is about, but she's determined to get him in the mood.

"I'm showing him cartoons, like this is Santa," she laughed to Access Hollywood. "He has no idea who Santa is. I said, 'Ho, Ho, Ho.' He just likes to say, 'Ho, Ho, Ho.' I don't know why."

Fergie may be busy, but she wants to remember as much as possible about her son's childhood. That means about 90 per cent of the pictures on her mobile phone are of Axl, and she'll doubtless add to those as Thanksgiving and Christmas roll by.

On Sunday night the star attended the American Music Awards in Hollywood, where she was quizzed on some of the other performers. The star famously sang about her curves in 2005 Black Eyed Peas track My Humps, and laughed when it was suggested she paved the way for songs like Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea's duet Booty.

"I may not have as much booty as some of these girls, I might not be blessed with that, but ya know what, I got a little one. I just work what I got," she laughed.

As well as rocking the red carpet in a black Halston gown with thigh-high split, Fergie took to the stage with her new track L.A. Love (La La). It's her first solo work since her 2006 record The Dutchess and she was thrilled to show it off, even though she got into a tangle while trying to remove her jacket at the end of her performance with the piece ending up stuck to her butt.
"It feels so good, ya know mommy's ready to have some fun," she said before the song.
