Fergie and Josh Duhamel have welcomed a “healthy” baby boy.

The 38-year-old singer was taken to a Los Angeles hospital this morning for a Caesarean section operation with her actor husband Josh, 40, by her side.

TMZ reports the surgery was successful, as a representative for the couple confirmed their son was “was born healthy this morning at 7lbs 10oz”.

Fergie and Josh have chosen quite an alternative name for their child, whose moniker is Axl Jack Duhamel.

The Hollywood couple selected the name to pay homage to Guns ‘N Roses rocker Axl Rose.

Josh commented previously on the name selection process for their boy, and revealed the couple really wanted to inject some wild energy into the moniker.

“[The name is] kind of traditional, kind of not. My wife is a little rock and roll, so she’s a little bit more daring in that department than I am,” he told People magazine.

“We decided on a name that we both really love and I think will suit this child.”

Fergie is reportedly recuperating in swish surroundings in a VIP suite that was also occupied by fellow celebrities Kim Kardashian and Dwight Howard.

When she returns home to her and Josh’s Los Angeles mansion, their pet dog Zoe will be fully prepped to deal with the new member of their family.

The couple hired Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan earlier this week to train the pooch.

“Fergs and Josh are huge dog people. They thought it would be a good thing to do and Cesar offered,” a source told Us Weekly recently.
