Ed Sheeran wants to work with a band for his third album.

The red-headed star has taken the world by storm with his music and guitar strumming, releasing his first record + in 2011 followed by x earlier this year.

He's already started to think about what's next and reveals after his July gigs in London, UK, he'll be on the hunt for a band to join him.

"In my head I’ve always seen the third record as where I get a band. The first gig we did on this tour was the [club] Barfly in London, so I’ve gone from the Barfly to Wembley [stadium venue] with a loop pedal. After that there’s not much you can do with a loop pedal," Ed admitted to British newspaper The Sun.

Known for just performing with his guitar, Ed recently hired a small backing band to play behind him when he appeared on the UK X Factor.

However, after seeing Justin Timberlake perform with a massive ensemble over the summer, the 23-year-old has decided he'd like to try something similar.

"I watched Justin at the V Festival [UK] this year. You either don’t have a band or you have a band like that, you go for it or you don’t," Ed said.

Ed recently topped off a mammoth 2014 by bagging Best British Artist at the first BBC Music Awards. After his win he took to his Instagram account to upload a photo of him beaming next to the gold gong.

"Won British artist of the year tonight and I'm BUZZIN' (sic)," he captioned the snap.

He's also been nominated for three Grammy Awards. The ceremony takes place on February 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
