Ed Sheeran is “pretty sure” fun. will triumph over him at the Grammy Awards.

The British singer-songwriter’s hit track The A Team has earned a nomination for song of the year at the Grammys. Ed is honoured to be in the running for a prestigious prize, but isn’t counting on taking home the trophy. He believes We Are Young by fun. is likely to win the category.

"I'm pretty sure fun. will win. I think that song is great," Ed told MTV News. "I think there was no other song bigger than that last year, and if you were gonna go by that, they'll win, but I'm usually good at calling these things.

"I am a fan of fun., I've got the fun. album, I think fun. are great."

Other contenders to be crowned song of the year include Carly Rae Jepsen’s smash hit Call Me Maybe, Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger and Adorn by Miguel.

Ed is due to take the stage at the Grammys on Sunday to perform with Sir Elton John. Although he is slightly anxious about the duet, he is more nervous at the prospect of winning an award.

"I'm most nervous about that, having to do a speech - if I get to do a speech. I always leave people out of speeches. I always forget,” he explained. "I think if you write it down, you're expecting to win, and I'm not expecting to win. I think if I win, it will be a surprise. I probably will have one of those memorable speeches where I'm just like, 'Cheers!'”

Despite recent reports suggesting that Ed got in trouble with his mother for having too many tattoos, the music star has revealed plans to add to his body art collection.

He is eager to mark his Grammys nomination – and possible win – with a special etching.

"I'm gonna get a Grammy tattoo if I win a Grammy. I'm gonna get one anyway,” he added. “A nomination, man, it's the sh*t."
