Ed Sheeran's hips "don't work" for twerking.

The dance move has become a global phenomenon thanks to popstars like Miley Cyrus performing it on stage. But British singer Ed is better known for his romantic ballads, and the 23-year-old doubts the motion will make it into one of his shows anytime soon.

"My hips just don't work in that way!" he lamented to UK host Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1.

He added that just ten minutes of twerking seemed "excessive" and would probably leave him achey.

But Ed's lack of dance expertise doesn't hold him back from putting on the best show he can. Last night he played as part of the iTunes Festival in London, and he called the performance "amazing" and "really fun".

The redheaded star has been keeping busy thanks to his new album x, a follow-up to 2011's +.

It means he's been all over the world promoting the record, recently playing the AFL Grand Final in Australia. And all the work has been taking its toll on Ed.

"Off to do a s**teload of promo involving interviews, photo shoots and TV, gotta have a caffeine injection for this jetlag (sic)," he tweeted recently.

Things don't look to be slowing down anytime soon. Ed will begin touring next month, kicking things off in Dublin, Ireland, on October 3.

He'll be moving through European countries including Germany and France and recently announced dates for Australia and New Zealand.
