East 17, one of the most celebrated and successful boy bands of all time, are due to release their first new material for twelve years in July 2011. The band who achieved 18 Top Twenty hits (including House Of Love, Deep and Christmas No.1 Stay Another Day) as well as four Top Ten albums and sales of over twenty million records, will be releasing a new single on FOD Records. Entitled Secret Of My Life, the song’s subject matter is a love triangle and features the dazzling vocal overtones of the band’s new lead singer Blair Dreelan.
East 17 were recently re-united under the auspices of principal songwriter Tony Mortimer who won an Ivor Novello Songwriter Award for Stay Another Day, a song he wrote for his brother Ollie who committed suicide. The current line-up includes original members Mortimer, John Hendy and Terry Caldwell, along with charismatic new recruit Blair Dreelan. The band recently signed to FOD Records and shot the video for Secret Of My Life in Sabaudia in southern Italy – at the location where Fellini made two of his greatest movies La Strada and Juliet Of The Spirits.
Secret of My Life is East 17’s strongest single since Stay Another Day and is the first fruit of recording sessions that will see a new album in September. The band recently announced a UK tour and the dates for these shows run as follows:
