Dionne Warwick says she believes Whitney Houston’s “heart just gave out.”
The Walk On By singer opened up about the death of her superstar cousin who passed away on February 11.
She told Entertainment Tonight what her thoughts were on what eventually took Whitney’s life.
“You know, in all honesty, I think she had a heart attack, that’s what I think happened to her,” Dionne said candidly.
When asked if she believed drug use played a part in Whitney’s final demise, Dionne was not so sure.
“I don’t know if it’s that or not,” the 71-year-old said. “I think her heart just gave out.”
The Bodyguard star was found unresponsive in the bathtub in a room at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles just hours before she was due to attend Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party.
Dionne also spoke about accompanying Whitney’s body back home to her native New Jersey onboard Tyler Perry’s private jet.
“It was a combination of things; stories, laughter, tears,” she revealed. “All the emotions that you feel when somebody very near to you passes.”
Dionne is currently working on new music for what she calls her “50th Anniversary” celebration album.
