Eight years after the release of Rapture Of The Deep, Deep Purple have confirmed the release next year of a new album completely made of new studio material.

Producer Bob Ezrin (whose credits include Pink Floyd's The Wall and many Alice Cooper albums) worked with the band in Nashville to record and mix the album, following a variety of songwriting sessions in Europe. The release date is set for 26th April 2013.

The album is said to bring a fresh and modern production to the original spirit of group's 70s sound. Ian Gillan has recently revealed a few working titles of songs ' 'Out Of Hands', 'Uncommon Man' and 'Hell to Pay' ' that might appear on the album.

'The title of our new album is still a question mark to all of us. We have recorded a new album, and it's a fantastic collection of songs. At the moment that's the only affirmative point we can offer.'

Amongst Britain's most influential rock bands, Deep Purple have an impressive back catalogue of eighteen studio albums, at least thirty-four live albums and twenty-seven compilation albums. Their most recent studio album, Rapture Of The Deep, was released in 2005.

Earlier this year, the band and their fans mourned the loss of co-founder and original keyboardist, Jon Lord, who passed away in July.

Deep Purple will be in Australia and New Zealand in February and March of next year. It will be the first time ever in Australia for the U.S. band Journey, who will be touring with them.

Their record company, earMUSIC, has set up a dedicated website for the new album, where all band members will also be able to post and interact with their fans.
