Simon Cowell believe he's the only "iconic bachelor" in the world now George Clooney is married.

The 55-year-old music mogul has eight-month-old son Eric with his partner Lauren Silverman, but they haven't exchanged vows yet. Last month Hollywood heartthrob George tied the knot with Amal Alamuddin in Venice, with Simon ready to take over the star's singleton crown.

"I'm the only iconic bachelor left in the entire world - thanks for that George Clooney," he laughed to British magazine Hello!
"I think it's a title I'll keep for a while longer if I'm honest. I've never said no to marriage but then again I couldn't imagine having a kid at one point and now look at me."

For years Simon had insisted he wasn't the kind to become a father, so it came as a surprise when he confirmed Lauren was pregnant. He wouldn't change anything about his life at the moment, adding things are a little easier than they are for many thanks to the couple's "b****y amazing" nannies.

"I guess I was always nervous I may not end up getting on particularly well with the person I was going to have a kid with and I didn't want to make the wrong decision. And then you hit 50 and you think, 'Well, is it too late?'

"The fact is, our baby wasn't planned was actually the best thing for us to have done and we're very happy now," he explained.
"I'm probably in a far better position to be a father now than I would have been ten years ago."

Simon has famously declared that he doesn't change diapers in the past, and he now admits he isn't as involved in all areas of Eric's life as some dads are. But he is making big plans for his son's future.

"I'm going to be honest - I'm not exactly a hands-on dad. I want to fast forward a few years so I can take him go-karting and then introduce him to women. There are a few years to go yet," he laughed.
