Cheryl Cole’s marriage is reportedly not yet registered with officials in Mustique.
The 31-year-old singer married French entrepreneur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini on the Carribbean island on July 7 after a whirlwind three-month romance.
But according to UK newspaper The Sun, the couple have yet to make their union official in the eyes of the government due to confusion over her spouse’s full name.
The outlet reports a clerk in St Vincent, a nearby island where weddings are processed, wrote on a marriage licence filed by the couple more than a week ago: “Don’t understand bachelor’s names.”
Apparently the issue is a question of the groom’s mouthful of a moniker, listed as Jean-Bernard Justin Antoine Aime Bastien Thierry Fernandez, as well as the handwriting of the original official.
A clerk told The Sun they need Cheryl and Jean-Bernard to contact them in order to complete the paperwork.
“We need to know the spelling of his names before we can process the documents and register the marriage,” the clerk said.
The marriage licence reportedly confirms earlier claims Cheryl’s mother, Joan Callaghan, as well as a close friend of Jean-Bernard’s were both at the small ceremony, kept secret until the singer shared the happy news on social media this week.
“I usually do not discuss my personal life but to stop the speculation I want to share my happy news... Jean-Bernard and I married on 7/7/14,” she captioned a photo of her wedding ring on Instagram.
“We are very happy and excited to move forward with our lives together.”
Now, reports are already emerging the pop star is pregnant.
According to MailOnline, Jean-Bernard’s pal Curtis Brown refers to Cheryl as the restauranteur’s “baby momma” in a recently recorded interview.
“Don't get mad at me, but your baby momma is hot. She's very gorgeous. She is a great singer. She's awesome,” he was quoted saying.
The news would certainly make Cheryl’s former Girls Aloud bandmate Nadine Coyle overjoyed.
The mother-of-one recently stirred the rumours, tweeting after hearing her pal’s marriage news: “Aww @CherylOfficial you must be having an amazing time. I am so happy for you! Good luck with everything. Come join the baby club. Best ever.”
