Cheryl Cole has accepted that Simon Cowell will "never change".

The singer and the music mogul have had their ups and downs, which included Simon axing her from The X Factor US in 2011 and replacing her with Nicole Scherzinger.

Cheryl has now been confirmed for the upcoming series of the British X Factor and while she's put the past behind them, she has no hopes the 54-year-old will change his ways.

"I don't think Simon will ever change - that's what I have definitely learnt!" she laughed to the British edition of OK! magazine.

Simon announced the news on his Twitter page, adding that the 30-year-old is a "brilliant" judge of talent.

Cheryl previously worked on the UK show between 2008 and 2010 and Simon is pleased they're finally a team again.

"I wouldn't say 'begging', but I persuaded Cheryl very, very strongly to come back to the show," he revealed.

"We met a few times, had a few calls - she did some pretty bad things for my birthdays! - and then we made up! First of all, I apologised. I don't enjoy it but it's just one of those things you've got to deal with."

Simon recently welcomed his first child with girlfriend Lauren Silverman, a little boy called Eric.

Since his son's arrival in February he's been busy with parenting duties, but he's still close to his former flame Sinitta.
The star revealed she will always have a place on the show.

"She has always done a good job; she is passionate about working with talent," Simon said.
