Cher was convinced that she and David Geffen were perfect for each other.

The 66-year-old actress-and-singer and the 69-year-old record executive dated briefly decades ago.

David was Cher’s first beau after her split from husband Sonny Bono in 1975.

Although David later revealed he was homosexual, Cher believes their relationship was fated.

“I was crazy about him,” she told Extra at a private screening of upcoming documentary American Masters: Inventing David Geffen.

“At that point in his life, I was the right person for him.”

Cher and David’s relationship was serious.

The couple even spoke of getting married to one another, but Cher was uneasy about the idea.

“I just had been married!” she revealed.

“I was just so frightened of it.”

Cher treasures the romantic moments she shared with David.

One memory in particular brings her so much joy.

“It was Valentine's Day and I went to my car and there was a big note on my steering wheel and a huge package from Van Cleef & Arpels,” she recalled.

“It was this mega diamond bracelet.”

American Masters: Inventing David Geffen will premiere on PBS November 20.
