A new coffee shop and music centre has just been opened in London's Camden Town and is expected to be a destination venue for professional musicians and coffee hounds.

Tower 47 is a New York styled coffee shop on Chalk Farm Road, next to the Barfly.

The front of the shop is a coffee shop but the music side of the business will comprise of a musical instrument retail department on the stage mezzanine. They promise to have on display high-end and highly sought after vintage gear. A spokesperson for the venue, Syd, told us "We are main dealers for Pearl, Gretsch, Ludwig, Mapex, Sabian, Meinl, Paiste, Vater, Vic Firth, ProMark, Evans, Remo, and that's just a few off the top of my head"
.
The mezzanine will also host secret lounge gigs..."this will happen when all the retail gets pushed to the back thus transforming the mezzanine into a stage overlooking the cafe. "

Tower47 will also have a full repair workshop for musicians' gear which will be overseen by Paddy who is the director of the Hackspace. He has a long list of accomplishments completed on behalf of known musicians and they are also in the process of building 7 soundproof rooms, 6 of which will be used for practice, lessons, rehearsals etc.

Syd told us "We are currently in the process of cementing endorsements from Pearl, Sabian, and Gretsch - all of which will be providing top-end equipment for each room. Pro musicians expect this type of equipment, and we are hoping that the beginners will also benefit from top-end gear as we hope it will motivate those who are in the learning stages of developing their passion."

There will also be 3 cafe art galleries which will host a monthly art exhibit featuring "some truly outstanding artist's work!"

The coffee shop is already open and the rest of the project is expected to be complete in 4 - 6 weeks.

The final word from Syd - ""Art, Coffee and Music...a combination we hope others enjoy as much as we do!"
