Randall Miller and Jody Savin, who are wrapping up the film CBGB about the legendary New York punk club, have now set their sites on the story of Caribou Records.

The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the duo are writing the script with Miller set to direct. They are working in conjunction with James William Guercio, the producer, songwriter and manager who moved to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado to open the Caribou Ranch recording studio where artists such as Joe Walsh, Chicago, Elton John, Billy Joel, Rod Stewart and Carol King recorded.

Guercio, who started in the business producing the Buckinghams and Blood, Sweat and Tears, was also the manager of Chicago from the start of their career through the recording of Chicago XI in 1977.

It is expected that Caribou Records will start shooting this summer in Colorado.

The CBGB film stars Alan Rickman as Hilly Kristal, Ashley Greene as Lisa Kristal, Johnny Galecki as Terry Ork and a host of Hollywood names playing the classic artists that passed through the club's door including Malin Akerman (Debbie Harry), Stana Katic (Genya Ravan), Rupert Grint (Cheetah Chrome), Joel David Moore (Johnny Ramone) and Kyle Gallner (Lou Reed).
