Chris Brown will “detach” from social media after being criticised for posting a controversial Instagram crucifix picture.
Following his parking space brawl with Frank Ocean over the weekend, Chris posted up a drawing of Jesus on the cross alongside the caption: "Painting the way I feel today. Focus on what matters!"
The symbolism is thought to be a thinly veiled reference to his fight with Frank which happened outside Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angeles.
But now the R&B singer has switched his Instagram account from public to private, alienating two million followers.
After thanking his fans for their support, Chris posted a final message, directing his followers to his official website.
"Social media takes away the essence of why we are even special or icons," he wrote "So with that, I'm detaching myself from that world."
MTV News reports that Chris has previously stepped away from social media, leaving Twitter back in 2009 after expressing anger at retailers for not selling his album Graffiti.
He also deleted his Twitter account last November after a furious cyber row with comedian Jenny Johnson.
Any charges made against Chris over the fight could have serious implications for his probation stemming from his 2009 assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
So far, no charges have been filed and no arrests were made, but Frank "is desirous of prosecution in this incident," said Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.
