Britney Spears' family reportedly view her new boyfriend as a "breath of fresh air".
The pop star and her fiancé Jason Trawick split in January and she has already moved on. The star is dating law firm employee David Lucado, who is totally removed from the showbiz world.
This is said to be one of the reasons Britney's family are so enamoured with her choice.
"He is so down-to-earth, but also very smart, funny and Britney is really smitten with him,” an insider told Chicago Sun-Times. “He’s like a breath of fresh air... he has that Southern thing in common with Britney.”
One of David's biggest fans is said to be Britney's father Jamie. He has been one of the people in charge of her personal and professional affairs since she became the subject of a conservatorship order after her meltdown in 2007.
Jamie is fiercely protective of his 31-year-old daughter and apparently feels she is better suited to David than she was to Jason.
"[He] immediately connected with David, and that’s saying something, as Jamie, naturally, is always suspicious of any guy showing a romantic interest in Britney," another source explained.
"[David has clicked with her family] much more so than Jason, who always seemed a bit too uppity for some of Britney’s relatives."
During their time together Jason was also named as one of Britney's conservators. This is said to have been one of the things which put a strain on their relationship and stopped it feeling like a romantic union.
Britney and David met through mutual friends and although they haven't been together long, they are said to be serious already. The singer is thought to be considering expanding her family once her Las Vegas residency ends and would like to have a baby with her new beau.
