Britney Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline have reportedly "moved on" from their difficult relationship for the sake of their children.

The pair have two sons together; Sean Preston and Jayden James. They divorced in 2007, and a bitter custody battle ensued.

Despite their troubled past, an insider says Britney is now happy to call a truce for the sake of their two sons, and was even spotted chatting to Kevin at their son's soccer match in Los Angeles recently.

"It's taken a while but Britney says she and Kevin have finally moved on. They're never going to be best pals, but they're at a stage where they can enjoy each other's company," a source told British magazine Closer.

"Britney feels guilty for what she put the boys through, so she's doing what she can to give them a stable life."

Britney and Kevin tied the knot in 2004, but the singer filed for divorce in 2006 citing irreconcilable differences and asking for both physical and legal custody of their two children.

Britney's high-profile breakdown led to Kevin having custody of their sons, before the pair reached a joint custody agreement in 2008.

Meanwhile, Britney is happy in a new relationship with law firm employee David Lucado, after splitting from her fiancé Jason Trawick in January.

The romance is said to be going swimmingly.

"He is so down-to-earth, but also very smart, funny and Britney is really smitten with him. He’s like a breath of fresh air... he has that Southern thing in common with Britney," a source revealed recently.
