Brandon Flowers had a “strange desire” to make The Killers’ new album.

The indie rock band will release their fourth studio album Battle Born later this month.

Frontman Brandon says creating the record was a long process, but one he felt he had to complete.

“It took a long time to write these lyrics; it doesn’t come easily,” he confessed to the British edition of Elle.

“I’m still working on one song, so it’s not even done. I've given it everything. I had a strange desire to make this album – it was kind of creepy. I haven’t felt that way since we made our first album.”

The 31-year-old wants to keep working on his voice, as well as his songs.

The singer of hits like Mr Brightside and Somebody Told Me says expectations increase with every album.

“Yeah, I want my voice to be stronger,” he revealed.

“I heard that the male voice isn’t mature till you’re about 33, and I’m almost there so I thought, ‘You might as well exercise this sucker.’”
