Boyz II Men are to be honoured at this year’s MOBO Awards with the prestigious “Outstanding Contribution To Music Award”.

The accolade, only given in exceptional circumstances, falls ahead of the release of their new album ‘TWENTY’ out October 17th which celebrates the band being together for an incredible twenty years.

In addition, the trio will set the MOBO stage alight with a special performance on the night of their classic chart toppers, alongside their brand new single ‘One Up For Love’

On receiving news of the award, founding member Nathan Morris remarks: "Wow, getting a call about the MOBO Outstanding Contribution To Music Award is a total surprise."
Shawn Stockman adds: "We have been doing this for twenty plus years, and to be presented with this award is very humbling."
Lead vocalist Wanya Morris states "The UK is one of our favourite places in the world, so this is a true honour. I hope this isn't a joke because this is just too damn cool!"
Cited as influences to some of the most successful artists ever, from Beyonce to Usher, the group still holds the No.1 (‘One Sweet Day’ ft. Mariah Carey), No.3 (‘I’ll Make Love To You’) and No.4 (‘End Of The Road’) spots for most consecutive weeks at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The "TWENTY" album contains 12 brand new songs alongside 8 newly recorded versions of Boyz II Men classics, including ‘End Of The Road’, ‘I’ll Make Love To You’, and ‘Bended Knee’.

On honouring the group with the award (last received in 2003 - Kool & The Gang), MOBO founder & CEO Kanya King says “They are my all-time favourite group and their music has truly inspired me over the years. They’ve had a huge impact on many of today’s artists and are well respected by fellow musicians. I can’t wait to see them on the show!”
