A sign out the front of The Music Box music venue on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles has sent Blur fans into a spin. It announces “7-28 Blur” at the famed Hollywood music venue.

The placement of the sign with no publicity and no announcement from the band has sparked a reaction from Blur fans around the world who have taken to forums to talk about why the band would even be doing a one-off show and then why Los Angeles.

Undercover can confirm Blur will not be performing in Los Angeles next week. Special Events Manager Preston has confirmed that the sign out the front of the venue relates to a private event titled Blur and has nothing at all to do with the band.

A Los Angeles performance next week would have been quite an effort Blur. Damon Albarn has Gorillaz in the Middle East at the moment. They played in Syria last night.

Gorillaz will also be performing at Roskilde in Denmark on July 1, so a Blur gig across the planet if true would almost be worthy of a write-up in the Guinness Book of Records.

No, it was not to be. Blur in Hollywood next week is a private function. None of the band will be at it or have anything to do with it.

Maybe the LA Blur party should at least play ‘Song #2’ in honour of their false rumour that swept the web and excited Blur fans for no reason.
