Justin Bieber has experienced a massive “wake-up call” since news emerged that he was the target of a murder plot.

Las Cruces prison inmate Dana Martin, a convicted killer in New Mexico, recruited Mark Staake and his nephew Tanner Ruane to castrate and murder the 18-year-old singer in New York City last month.

Justin was performing in Madison Square Garden at that time and according to Star magazine Dana wanted his boys to come home with the singer’s genitals to be paid $2,500 per testicle.

Justin is shocked by the wickedness of the whole scheme.

“Justin reached superstardom at such a young age. This is a wake-up call for him that you have to be on guard at all times,” a source told the publication.

“It only takes one unstable individual to do the unthinkable.

“This has to have been a totally sobering experience for Justin. It’s one thing to have young, screaming fans trying to get a piece of you, but the innocent of all that disappears in the face of something as sick and depraved as this.”

Dana is serving two life sentences for raping and killing a 15-year-old girl in 2000.

He reportedly told police the trio planned to kidnap Justin and his bodyguard and strangle them with paisley ties, his signature killing instrument.

The news outlet reports Dana alerted authorities about the plot before it could be carried out.

Mark Staake was subsequently arrested in Vermont on outstanding warrants.

Tanner Ruane was reportedly found with a pair of pruning sheers when he was arrested in New York City.
