Justin Bieber has pledged to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The 18-year-old Canadian singer announced on Twitter plans to work with the Red Cross.

The organisation is supplying disaster relief to the thousands of people affected by the storm that ravaged America’s East Coast last week.

"Gonna try to work with Red Cross to have u guys all help donate for those affected by hurricane sandy,” Justin wrote on Sunday.

The Baby hitmaker also retweeted a plea from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who reached out to him about spreading the word for a local relief fund.

"@justinbieber my girls are big fans. Will u help us spread the word about NJReliefFund?" the politician wrote.

Governor Christie also reached out to New Jersey natives the Jonas Brothers and Bruce Springsteen.

Justin isn’t the only star spotlighting the state’s need for aid.

The cast of the Jersey Shore is scheduled to assist with a televised benefit on November 15, raising funds for non-profit organization Architecture for Humanity’s Restore the Shore fund.
