Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z spent over $200,000 on their daughter’s first birthday party, according to reports.
The couple welcomed their first child, Blue Ivy, on January 7, 2012, and are believed to have spared no expense.
According to UK newspaper The Sun, the couple spent $80,000 on a diamond-encrusted Barbie gifted to baby Blue at a princess-themed birthday party attended by friends and family in New York City.
The couple spent over $96,000 on white and pink roses, over $2,400 on a birthday cake, and over $32,200 on princess costumes, playhouses, jewellery sets and toys for the younger guests, according to the publication.
News of Blue’s lavish birthday party follows reports Jay-Z is paying $1 million a year to rent a nursery at New York City’s Barclays Center.
The rapper, real name Shawn Carter, has a minority stake in the Brooklyn Nets. The American basketball team is based at the Barclays Center, which also serves as a concert venue.
The suite is reportedly the most expensive of those available for rent with the average cost amounting to $550,000 a year.
Jay-Z and Beyonce wed in April 2008.
The singer opens up about her relationship and being a first-time mum in her forthcoming documentary, Life Is But A Dream.
