British nobility combined when the legendary Sir Tom Jones teamed up with Baron Ed Sheeran for a performance at the AFL Grand Final in Melbourne on Saturday.

Wait! Baron Ed Sheeran? Yes, it is true. Ed Sheeran does have the title Baron.

“There is a dude that owned an oilrig off the coast of Felixstowe. About 50 years ago it was turned into its own country and he can give out titles so I am now Baron Edward Sheeran,” Ed tells Noise11.com.

Baron Edward took the stage on the hallowed grounds of the Melbourne Cricket Ground to perform two of his biggest hits ‘Sing’ and ‘The A Team’ when Sir Tom joined Baron Ed for the third song ‘Kiss’.

‘Kiss’ was originally written and recorded by Prince for his Parade album. Despite his record label Warner not wanting to release it, it became a number one single in the USA and reached no. 2 in Australia.

Tom Jones, Forum Theatre, Melbourne 2014Tom Jones covered the song two years later with Art of Noise. The Jones version reached no. 8 in Australia and no. 31 in the USA.
