Bananarama, Tony Hadley & Kim Wilde to play 'Gig in the Sky'

British Airways is flying back in time to celebrate Red Nose Day’s 25th anniversary. As well as hosting a fundraising 80s ‘Gig in the Sky’ event for its charity partnership ‘Flying Start’, the airline is taking a trip down memory lane.

To mark the launch of the gig, it polled hundreds of Facebook users to find the most popular 80s travel related song. Rock anthem Paradise City by Guns N’ Roses was voted number one with nearly a third of votes, it was closely followed by Wham’s Club Tropicana and Madonna’s pop hit Holiday.

British Airways 80s ‘Gig in the Sky’ will take place on Sunday 10 March, with Bananarama, Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), Kim Wilde and Go West performing in the lounge and on board a special charity flight. It also hopes to set a new Guinness World Record for ‘Highest Concert’ flying up to 43,000ft. For the launch, Tony Hadley has recorded a special video below.

British Airways charity partnership with Comic Relief is called Flying Start. It raises money to transform the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the UK and the poorest countries around the world. Since Flying Start launched in 2010, it has raised over £4 million for Comic Relief.
