Ashlee Simpson is expecting a daughter.
The 30-year-old, who confirmed her pregnancy with new husband Evan Ross in December, has revealed the sex of their unborn child to People magazine.
Already mother to six-year-old son Bronx, the singer is over the moon to be adding a baby girl to her family.
“We’re having a girl!” she beamed to the publication, adding, “I like to know – I want to do the nursery.”
The newlyweds found out they were expecting during the US Thanksgiving holiday on November 27 – just three months after tying the knot.
Ashlee and 26-year-old Evan exchanged vows at his mother Diana Ross’ Greenwich, Connecticut, estate on August 30, surrounded by their close friends and family members. It was the second marriage for Ashlee and the first for her actor husband.
And it seems that Ashlee and Evan aren’t the only ones thrilled to be having a girl. Big brother Bronx is also looking forward to a new arrival, she tells the magazine.
“I told him pretty early on [about the pregnancy]. And he wanted to have a sister, so he’s really excited!” she said, adding, “He’s got a little brother. Now he’s going to have a little sister!”
Bronx’s father, Pete Wentz, to whom Ashlee was married from 2008 until 2011, welcomed second son Saint Laszlo with his fiancée Meagan Camper on August 21 last year.
The former couple are on amicable terms these days following a difficult divorce and custody battle. They now share 50/50 physical custody of Bronx.
