Ariana Grande believes “behind every successful woman is herself”.

The 21-year-old singer revealed her life motivations as she attended the Billboard Women in Music luncheon Friday in New York, where she took home the Rising Star award.

And Ariana told the audience she owes everything to her family.

I want to share this honour with two women who inspired me - my mama and my nonna.

"I want to thank my mama for teaching me to work hard - and that behind every successful woman is herself.

“And I want to thank my nonna for taking me to my first audition and for teaching me to have compassion for the haters."

Ariana also revealed she has no intention of giving up in the industry any time soon – as she thinks she has a lifetime of singing ahead of her.

"I can't wait to do music hopefully forever,” she said.

Also at the star-studded luncheon was Beyoncé, who looked stunning in a ruched purple dress as she posed with fans before heading inside.

Taylor Swift also attended the event, and posed with Beyoncé for pictures.

Other award winners included Paramore, with singer Hayley Williams taking to the stage to collect the prize.

“This is so cool. This is the greatest award honour that I feel I could ever receive,” Hayley said. “Thank you for making me feel seen and heard.”

Jessie J provided some entertainment at the event, performing her hit song Masterpiece.
