Annie Lennox visited Buckingham Palace this week to be honoured by the Queen.

It has been quite the amazing week for Annie Lennox with three new awards honoring her music and activities.

On Tuesday, Lennox was presented her Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth honoring her work fighting poverty and AIDS in Africa.

Lennox wrote in her blog of the event:

Just to say thankyou for all the lovely messages..it was a fun day. The Queen stood throughout the entire event, and handed out a hundred and two awards, one at a time. She took time to speak to each person individually. Unbelievable stamina and focus, especially when lots of people in the audience were fanning themselves due to the heat level! She said to me "Where did you get that hat"? And I replied " It's vintage." "Surely you didn't expect me to wear one of those awful fascinators"?!

Friday, she was given the prestigious O2 Silver Clef Award for 2011, presented to an artist in recognition of their contribution to British music. Soul singer Beverley Knight presented her with the statue at the lunchtime ceremony.

Finally, it was announced that Lennox would be receiving the Walpole Medal of Excellence on August 31 at Edinburgh's Balmoral Hotel. The award "recognises outstanding excellence in every aspect of the recipient’s work and activities and is presented biannually in Scotland."

Lennox said of the award, "I'm amazed and delighted to become the recipient of the prestigious Walpole Award. To be considered worthy of such recognition in Scotland is especially resonant for me. It's an absolute honour and privilege!"

Julia Carrick, CEO of Walpole commented "We are delighted to present the Walpole Scottish Medal of Excellence to Annie Lennox, not only is she a hugely talented musician but her dedicated humanitarian work has changed the lives of people all over the world."

Graham Storrie, Managing Director of Adam & Company adds: "Annie Lennox joins a list of outstanding and distinguished recipients of the Walpole Scottish Medal of Excellence. At Adam we are passionate about inspiring and helping our clients to make a bigger difference through charitable and philanthropic activities. Annie is an amazing role model and we are honoured to be involved in presenting this award."
