Animal Collective premiere the kinetic new video for Centipede Hz's lead single, “Today's Supernatural”, scroll down to view.
The video was filmed on location at the salt flats of El Mirage, CA and stars band member Avey Tare alongside a giant piñata head. It was directed by long time Animal Collective collaborator Danny Perez (ODDSAC, Summertime Clothes, Who Could Win A Rabbit).
On Monday morning, August 20th, Animal Collective will premiere their new album Centipede Hz (Sept 3rd) LIVE on Animal Collective Radio (radio.myanimalhome.net). At 2AM GMT the transmission will begin with Geologist's radio show followed immediately by the album premiere. Geologist describes his mix as follows:
"My show is actually a version of a mix I made for Ben Allen (Centipede Hz Producer) before we went into the studio. He asked us for a list of songs that we might reference in terms of sound and vibe so he could understand how we wanted the album to sound. We put together a list of songs that either encompassed the overall sound and vibe, or just had specific things we liked, such as drums sounds, or vocal effects. Rather than just send him each song, I thought it'd be fun to make transitions in between each track and sequence it out into 4 separate continuous hypothetical LP sides, which is what we were thinking for the sequencing of our album. For the final show of AC Radio we thought it'd be cool to play this inspirational mix and the album back to back."
Animal Collective Radio, a partnership with The Creators Project, has broadcast live over the last three weeks featuring shows hosted by Panda Bear, Avey Tare and Deakin. The transmissions also featured a variety of guest DJs sets including Atlas Sound, Haunted Graffiti, Black Dice, Pantha Du Prince as well as brand new solo music by Panda Bear and Avey Tare.
Animal Collective's new album Centipede Hz is out September 3rd on CD, 2xLP & Deluxe 2xLP.
