AC/DC are one of the acts being talked about to perform at the Grammy Awards in February.
The rumors are starting to fly about who will be performing at the Grammy Awards and three veteran artists are leading the list.
According to Hits Daily Double, sources inside the Academy have said that AC/DC, Madonna and U2 are confirmed for the February 8 show as performers.
If true, this will continue Grammy’s transition from a show to honor the great music of the past year to a promotional tool for record companies. For years, artists would appear on the show to perform their nominated song, even if it was over a year since its initial release. A few years back, the ceremony started looking more like the American Music Awards with the artists, instead, promoting their latest albums. That was taken to a new level two years ago when Justin Timberlake performed a number of songs on the show that were yet to be released.
Only U2 has a nomination this year and it’s questionable how they even got that. They are up for Best Rock Album for Songs of Innocence, an album that was not officially released into stores until after the September 30 deadline. Initial word was that the offering of the free download on iTunes, which started in September, was not enough to qualify the album for the 2015 ceremony.
Look for U2 to perform music from Innocence, AC/DC to do a track from Rock or Bust, and Madonna to sing one of the songs that were released to iTunes before Christmas but won’t see a physical release until over a month after the Grammys air.
