A.J. McLean has admitted to getting a hair transplant.

The 35-year-old Backstreet Boys crooner went bald prematurely and has always been self-conscious about the condition.

He took to photo sharing website Instagram to share with fans before and after pictures of the procedure.

"Some girls get there boobs done some guys get abb implants all to make them happy! (sic),” he captioned the image.

“This was the one thing I did and I couldn't be happier thank u dr G!!!!"

The montage shows A.J. with sparse hair on top of his head and then magically sporting a luxurious, coiffed mane.

It’s good timing for the comeback star who is currently working on a documentary with Backstreet Boys bandmates Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson.

In February it was revealed the men will be subjects of a film charting their rise to fame in the Nineties to current day.

Now Backstreet Boys – The Movie, an album and a world tour are all in the works.

Rolling Stones documentarian Stephen Kijak is helming the project.

"We always wanted to make a film and now is the ideal time… a new album in the works and our 20th anniversary all adds up to being the right time to share our story," the band said in a statement at the time.

The film is scheduled for completion in the fall.
