Hot news from the Ivor Novello red carpet where disco legend and super producer, Nile Rodgers, who was at the even to collect the PRS for Music Special International Award, revealed that he has challenged Bestival to create the world’s largest discoball.

Nile, who is headlining Bestival’s Desert Island Disco finale with his world famous band, Chic, revealed that he told Bestival head honcho Rob da Bank that the band was preparing an extended hit-packed set for the headline slot and that he wanted to create the world’s largest disco party. He then challenged Rob to create the world-beating discoball.

Speaking to Gigwise Nile said “We're going to do an extended set and I actually just made a challenge to the head of Bestival - I said that I would like to create the world's largest disco party of all time. So he says 'how do we do that?'

"So then I was like 'I want you to create the world's largest disco ball. He says 'do you know how big that is?' I say 'I don't know - I'm just making it up'. He said it would have to be 10 metres in diameter, so I said 'great - the challenge is on”.

Never ones to shy away from a record breaking opportunity, Rob has accepted on Bestival’s behalf and the quest starts here.
