The Sea to release second album Rooftops May 7th
***Recent tour dates added with James Morrison***
The Sea are set to follow up their debut album 'Get It Back' with the explosive 'Rooftops' on May 7th through Lusty Records.
Produced by John Cornfield (Oasis, XTC, Muse), the London based two-piece's second full-length shows a richer pallet of sounds and more varied instrumentation than their debut, but maintains their melodic and powerful edge that permeates through the songwriting. Infectious choruses, bounding melodies and charming lyrics are the order of the day on 'Rooftops' as brothers as Peter and Alex D'Chisholme play their hearts out over ten songs.
Despite writing and performing as a two piece, The Sea create a huge, arena-filling sound. Often led by the prodigious drumming of Alex, the tracks on 'Rooftops' are as intense as they are engaging, keeping a solid level of energy throughout. Singer Peter switches between his fuzzy, anthemic guitar to the piano while his vocals take centre stage on each of 'Rooftops' impassioned choruses. The band have also enlisted the help of horn and string sections to create their rousing sound.
Opening with the album's first single 'New York', the album ebbs and flows with its tales of love, life and London. From the jaunty, tongue-in-cheek 'Silly Love Song', the bluesy guitar licks of 'Rooftops of London' to the tumultuous 'Shake Shake', the album isn't afraid to wear it's rich musicality and melody on its sleeve whilst creating a sound which is truly unique to The Sea. Closing with the slow-burning anthem 'Emily's Waltz', 'Rooftops' ends on a triumphantly high crescendo.
The Sea received critical acclaim with their debut album 'Get It Back' and the single 'Love Love Love' and have since enjoyed success overseas, headlining tours and festivals across Europe, including Musikschutzgebiet Festival in Germany and Kuahgartn Open Air Festival Switzerland. The band have spent much of the past two years touring relentlessly across Europe, America and Canada and have a series of live dates across the UK and Europe to perform tracks from 'Rooftops'.
'Rooftops' is available through all good digital retailers, through the band's own Lusty Records, from May 7th. Limited edition numbered copies of the album will also be available from Rough Trade and independent retailers.
