Once dubbed the city of Minneapolis' 'Band Least Likely To, after more lauded forbears such as Husker Du and The Replacements, SOUL ASYLUM defied expectations in 1992 with their international smash hit single, Runaway Train, and the album it came from, Grave Dancer's Union .

Well, twenty years later, Soul Asylum are to release a brand new album, entitled Delayed Reaction, on the Freeworld division of North London indie label Floating World, on Monday, November 26th. The band, who consist of founder-members Dave Pirner (vocals, guitar), Dan Murphy (vocals, guitar), plus Tommy Stinson (bass - current Guns 'n' Roses bassist, and former member of The Replacements), and Michael Bland (drums) amply illustrate that their raucous energy levels and sense of caustic fun have not been dimmed by the passage of time - songs such as Gravity, The Streets, Let's All Kill Each Other and Take Manhattan sound more focused and engaged than ever - hell, on Cruel Intentions, they even indulge in a little cocktail lounge Blues and still sound like they're enjoying themselves.

It's been six years since their last album, The Silver Lining, an album that commercially and creatively misfired, but Delayed Reaction is closer to the vibrant, crashing but melodically winning Asylum of old.
