An original work of art is the direct result of a unique temperament. Spanish producer Kramnikis driven by that kind of mentality that enables an artist to take a step back from the surrounding scene and make something truly original and distinctive. Operating outside the hipster controlled hype machine that fuelsfaddish trends and new fashions, Kramnik has remained a solitary figure in electronic music, producing quality underground music that stands for the twin ideals of artistry and self-expression.
In keeping with his individual approach, his debut album, 'Dark Matters' will be released via his own Kram Records on December 17th. The record displays both an innate ability behind the studio desk and a forward thinking approach to the album format. The release also includes a version of the album that is mixed live, further highlighting Kramnik's desire to push the envelope for intelligent electronic music.
Just as he does on his "Invisible Radio Show" and "Invisible Talk Show" Kramnik manages to find the consummate blend of tough energy and ominous atmospheres on 'Dark Matters.' A highly progressive and often subtle work, the album channels dark and eerie soundscapes through an intense journey. Moments of pure ambience find hidden pockets amongst the backbone of tech-riddled, bass-driven grooves that moves the record forward with purpose and momentum. Its thick, druggy atmospheres create a beautifully twisted and trippy melancholy that permeates the entire sound from the outset.
A heavyweight list of remixers have already expanded the dimensions of 'Dark Matters' even further with new interpretations of album tracks. Ben Sims, Martin Garcia &Hernan Cattaneo, Gabriel Ananda, Franco Bianco & Mike Wall, Timo Maas, Nick Warren, Hans Bouffmyhre and SQL have all added their own flavours to Kramnik's originals to add yet more dexterity to this accomplished album on well received, two part remix package.
'Dark Matters' is testament to the mindset of a unique and uncompromising producer. Limits and boundaries are removed, leaving Kramnik space to explore his own vision with prolonged flashes of originality and vivid ingenuity. The result of this experimentation can best be described as 'Dark Matters.'
