Blinded Memory is an all guys metalcore band from Europe. They got started back in 2010. Scenic then they have brought us so much great music. For now they have been doing concerts in their hometown. But they are working on getting on tour someday soon. They have so much more in store for us. They are an amazingly talented band. Who pour their hart and soul into their music.

Could you give use a brief over view of the band?
We are a melodic metalcore band from a small North European country named Latvia. We started up back in 2010, by this time we’ve released one EP album and 2 singles, the last single “Reborn” is from our upcoming full-length album, that is going to be released by the end of this year.

Do you have plans for my touring someday?
Yes, we are going to tour Europe after the release of our album, but until then we’ll be just playing some single shows both in our home country and in Europe from time to time.

Are there any pet peeves you have with your band mates?
Nope, of course we argue between ourselves sometimes, but it’s a completely normal process that happens in every band.

Would you tell us how you got started in the music world?
Eric – I started when I was 15, I was making rap beats and electronic songs in “FL Studio”, but I was always into rock music, so when I was 17 I got my first guitar, and when I was playing just few months I already started my first band, but it didn’t last long. Then after several years of playing in different bands as a guitarist, I decided to change the direction that I was going, and switched to being a vocalist and founded BM.
Dmitry – I started when I was 18, I fell in love with one song, and I decided that I MUST learn how to play it, I got myself a guitar, things started to get rolling, and in the end I’ve started to search for a band, and I ended up joining BM.

Who is your inspiration?
We are inspired by a wide range of bands from very different genres, but to name a few from our and similar genres, that would be Parkway Drive, As I Lay Dying, The Word Alive, Memphis May Fire, Asking Alexandria, Bury Tomorrow and many other bands.

What was the first song you remember singing?

Eric – I don’t remember actually, probably that would be any of the Russian songs my parents were listening to when I was a kid.
Dmitry – Can’t remember too.

Did you have any favorite musicians you looked up to?

Yeah, each of us has are favorite musicians that we like watching, but still we want to develop our own style, that won’t be similar to anyone else.

Have you ever been in a music competition?

Yeah, we’ve taken part in 2 music competitions a few years ago, now we sent our application to Wacken Metal Battle, so now we are waiting if we’ll be chosen to play in the regional preliminaries or not.

How do you handle mistakes during a performance?

Well the most important is to keep calm, and keep playing even if something goes wrong. That’s what we are trying to do too.

Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?

Eric – No, I don’t get nervous, performing is something that I really love doing, so I just concentrate on delivering a 110% of what I can to the people that came to see us, and having a time of my life on stage each and every time.
Dmitry – Yeah, I get nervous a little bit.

What do you feel as you sing?

Eric – It depends on what song I’m singing, some songs mean something personal to me, some are less personal, so each time the feelings are different.
Dmitry – If the songs mean’s something to me, I just enjoy the moment when I’m singing it.

Have you ever thought, "This is what life was made for?"

Eric – I have thought that “This is what I’d love to do till the end of my life”, and I sure hope that it’ll be that way.
Dmitry – Same here, but I still keep searching for even more things that I would love to do.

Have you ever been so moved by a song that you cried? If so what was it?

Eric – Nope, can’t remember anything like that, only songs that gave me goose bumps when I was listening to them.
Dmitry – No, something like this never happened to me.

Do you ever get lost in the music?

Eric – Sometimes I do get lost in the music, usually when the song means something personal to me.
Dmitry – Yeah, I did.

Do you plan to make music for as long as you can?
We sure hope so.

If you could pick anyone who would you like to do a duet with?

Haha, we can’t do a duet with anyone considering that we are a band. But there are musicians that we would love to work with on a song or 2.

If you had to listen to one artist for the rest of your life who would it be?

Eric – I don’t think I could listen to one artist for the rest of my life, cause depending on my mood I listen to different genres.
Dmitry – Same here, I don’t think I would be able to listen to one artist only.

What size venues do you like to play most?

Well there are positive sides in both small and big venues, but mostly we like to play big venues cause there is more space to go crazy.

If you weren't a musician, what would you be and why?

Eric – I don’t, probably I would just be an ordinary office worker.
Dmitry – Don’t know, maybe a car driver or something.

What do you like to do beside music?

Pretty much the same as everybody else – hang out with friends, play videogames, do sports, attend shows, different stuff people usually do.

Who does the song writing in your band?

Eric used to be the main songwriter, but now we try and work on every song together, each of us tries to add something to the table.

What are your goal and dreams for your music career?
We hope that one day we will be able to tour the world, and share our music with everyone from every corner of the globe.

What are your thoughts on doing an album?

We are currently working on our first full-length album, we plan to release it this year, and we are definitely looking forward to that moment.

What age rang would you say your music speaks to?

It’s really hard to tell, usually people from 14 to 23-25 listen to music like ours, but we’ve been talking to people even 40-50 years old, that liked our music, that was a really pleasant surprise.

Growing up did you always want to be a musician or did you have another plain in mind?

Eric – Back when I was a kid I wanted to become a professional soccer player, but things changed with time.
Dmitry – I started to dream about it only when I started to learn how to play guitar.

What is the meaning behind your songs?

Our songs are about pretty much different themes, some are about love, relationships, some are about people, about situations that we’ve been through, I’d rather suggest everyone to check them out and think about the meaning behind them themselves, cause it can mean pretty different things to every listener.

How would you like the world to see you?

As a bunch of ordinary guys, that love to play music and have an awesome time on stage with our friends and fans.

Why do you think you stick out from other artist in your genre?

Our music is different from what people are used to hear from a metalcore band, our music is both heavy and melodic at the same time, so people that love catchy melodies and heavy riffs will definitely enjoy it.

What is your thought on your fans?

They are absolutely amazing, the support we’ve been receiving for all those years has been more than we could ever dream of, and no words can express how thankful we are for that.

How did you come to pick your stage/band name?

We had another name back when we were just getting started, but it was a bit hard for the locals to pronounce so we decided to change it. We chose our current name cause it reflected pretty well the contradictive sides of our music and our lyrics.

Are there any last words you want to tell your fans and the readers?

Thanks a lot to everyone who read this, hope you enjoyed reading this interview, huge thank you to everyone who supports us, we love you all!
