Nico Pusch

Nico Pusch is the latest signing to white hot dance label Soundplate Records and releases his new single ‘Gruene Wiese’ next month. Rumour has it he was signed on the spot by the label boss after seeing his killer set at last year’s ADE.
We caught up with the German DJ/Producer and he shared his thoughts on views from aeroplane windows, plans for his album and … Dire Straits!

OK let’s start at the beginning, how did you get into music in the first place? What was the electronic music scene like growing up in Germany?

NP: Hey man, I stay in touch with music at the age of 14. That was also the beginning of my first steps in making my own music.


Your new single 'Gruene Wiese' will soon be released on UK label, Soundplate. Tell us about the track and what inspired you to make it.. ?

NP: I starting to produce the track in the airplane while traveling to a show in Switzerland, at the point I have to save it, I think about a file name. At this time I look out my window and see a green meadow, that the story of the name =)
And the story of the track is really simple. I’m inspired by my Idol Paul Kalkbrenner, I love his sound and my track is very similar to his sound I think.

Manchester based producer, Mark Wells is also on the release, what does his remix bring to the release?

NP: Mark’s remix is fantastic, so completely different but totally beautiful, I hope a lot of DJ’s will play Mark’s or my track this year.

Who are you influenced / inspired by when making music?

NP: I’m influenced by Paul Kalkbenner, Stephan Bodzin, ATB, Ludovico Einaudi, Dire Straits and many many many more

What else is in store for you in 2014? Any other release plans?

NP: The Biggest thing is my Debut Album „Von Luft & Liebe“ it will be released in the first half of 2014, and of course GRÜNE WIESE ! ! !

Do you have any big gigs coming up that you are looking forward to?

NP: Oh yes, there are so many big things in the planning, so many festivals, but I can’t tell more at this time… more info soon.

Which other German / European artists should we be looking out for this year?

NP: There are so many good artist, so many new artist with so much potential. My Brother and me started a DJ duo called „Pusch & Pusch“ - so watch out for us =)


You have played all over the world, what are your favourite venues in the world and why?

NP: There are really cool places, I like the "URI MURI" in Budapest ‘cause it’s real open air club in the middle of the city.
The other Club is the „SCHUETZENHOUSE“ in Marlow, it’s my home base and a real nice club in the middle of nowhere.

NP: I’m just me
