Anytime the name Jackson is mentioned, music automatically comes to one's mind. Following in the footsteps of the Jackson dynasty, Tanesha “Tanay” Jackson, has been hard at work on her debut album.

Daughter of Tito Jackson (The Jackson 5/The Jacksons), and niece to the late Michael Jackson, Tanay discovered her musical abilities at the tender age of 7. She was raised by her mother in Maryland and currently resides in New York. Tanay is also the CEO of Roth Entertainment and Lunar Music, and admires the talents of Bruno Mars, among others. Music News recently caught up with Tanay for an exclusive interview.

Music News - You're currently working on your debut album. What can you tell me about that?

It's great music, music you can vibe to. The lyrics are personally important to me so
it is very emotional music. I was really selective at which songs to put on the album.
It should be released sometime late summer.

Music News - If you had to categorize your music, what genre would it best fit?

This is definitely pop music. I will experiment with other genres later and even
when I do, my music will still be inherently pop.

Music News - Which artists have inspired and influenced you?

Prince, Chaka Khan, Bruno Mars are the artists that influence me mostly. Two are
Legends, and all of them are just remarkable. Each song has a different kind of feeling
and rhythm that not only makes you feel emotion but you can belt it anywhere!

Music News - The music industry can be very challenging. What advice has your father given you?

To never give up, be a people person, and that it's hard to be on top in this business
even for established artists. You must always be a person that is easy to work with
no matter the level of talent.

Music News - When did you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?

At the age of 7, I knew I was musically inclined. My Grandma (Mother’s mom) tried to push me into being a singer at the age of 9 when she heard me but I wasn't ready yet. As a teen I started off as a dancer and my studies in school suffered. So I promised my parents that I would finish school and when I graduated from college, I got serious about my music career.

Music News - If you could perform with anyone, either living or passed, who would it be?

Bruno Mars. He's a great musican, a true musican, and we lack that in the music industry in a lot of ways today.

Music News - What are your career goals?

To be an established artist and be able to perform at the Grammy’s honoring the best in music.

Music News - What do you enjoy doing when you are not performing?

Writing music, going in for spa days, hanging out with good friends and eating great food that isn’t hard to come by in the great city of New York!
