Fresh from winning Best New Band at the Salisbury Music Awards, The Paper Shades release thier latest offering “Where You Lay”. Duo Sarah Dollar and Jon Rixon have made an EP with the melancholy of Becks' "Mutations" and the ethereal folk vibe that comes with a Ben Howard album.

Lead singer Sarah Dollar has a beautiful raspy vocal which complements this melodic and moody EP and the track "Light of The Day" shows this off with a warm mix of comforting harmonies and gentle guitar tones. "Friend or Foe" is the stand out track with its tender melody and beautiful subtleties showing off the band's sounds - the track wouldn’t go amiss on a film score.

This duo plays the sort of music that would be perfect in a log cabin with snow falling and a fire burning in the background. Their vibe is warm and emotive and throughout their music you can hear their musical influences from the dreamy music of Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell and Fleetwood Mac. If you fancy something a little bit more chilled out for the festive season, this EP is definitely worth a listen.
