Young Guns

With the release of this final single from their acclaimed album Bones, one could get the impression that Young Guns are closing the Bones chapter. Well possibly over here but Bones has just been released in the States, and the band are about to start a tour over there.

The sound of You Are Not will come as no surprise to anyone is big, all round big. Vocals, production, performance are all on an arena scale. A power ballad of sorts at times it brings to mind some of Metallica’s slower moments. But that’s fleeting as this is recognisably a Young Guns song, as the listener is hit by a wall of sound and kitchen sinks as the song heads towards its conclusion.

Multi-layered, complex and maybe a touch over the top, this is nevertheless a band on top form and sounding pretty comfortable too.
