Bellowhead have a reputation as a massive live band and on Wednesday the showed the Roundhouse exactly what a live show should be like.

They are apparently a folk outfit but most people would associate folk with small and slightly po-faced – Bellowhead have eleven different members and between them they played around 20 different instruments and I didn’t see a songle hand cupped to an ear in the entire hour and three quarter set.

The full crowd was bouncing and dancing from the off as they rattled through numbers from the new album, ‘Broadside’ and ‘Hedonism’ and numbers like ‘Byket Hill’ and ‘10000 Miles Away’ went down a storm.
Seeing all eleven members dancing like loons – including Ed Neuhauser, completely wrapped in his Helicon, with both feet off the ground – it is simply not possible not get dragged along with the music and the merriment.

Support on the tour is from Mama Rosin, regulars on the pages of Music-news.com, and they wentr down a storm as well with a selection from the excellent new album ‘Bye Bye Bayou’. I have seen many support acts at the Roundhouse playing to an empty auditorium as the crowds hit the bars but Mama Rosin drew a fine crowd and got an excellent reception.

All told, a brilliant evening.
