For a band as reputedly ‘difficult’ as The Nightingales (That happens when you get lumped in with the likes of The Fall and Joy Division.) Something for Everyone is as accessible a pop song as you are ever going to hear.

The jaunty opening takes little time to get to the core of the song and before you know it, you are hooked by the very catchy chorus. It’s a busy song too, with more than a touch of The Kinks about it, a distinctly proggy midsection after which they throw in bells, whistles and the kitchen sink, leading to a finale as over the top as Greg Lake’s I Believe in Father Christmas. All in little over two minutes. It's a joy and true to the title of the song.
