Glasgow city centre houses some of the best music venues in the country; from intimate to grandeur, we’ve got them all. We also have many of the best rock/grunge venues, so there is no doubt that Essex rockers INME will feel right at home playing in Stereo tonight. Stereo is your definitive grunge rock venue, hidden down a dark lane and coated head to toe in band and gig posters. As INME commandeer Stereo for this evening, they are joined by label buddies and equal noise-heads LostAlone for a night of great live music.

Lost Alone are a popular trio, sporting already some very impressive gigs to their band name. As lead support to INME, LostAlone share similar musical attributes to the headliners, but they do surpass Dave MacPherson on the vocal side! Lead singer Steven Batelle is to LostAlone what Gerard Way is to My Chemical Romance, or what Scott Lamb is to We Are Scientists; vocally very strong and prevailing and not once hidden under the music. Within a genre that is stereotypically loud and clumsy, LostAlone show off a more professional and insanely enjoyable side to grunge/rock/emo. Their music hangs together very well: with solid bass lines and unique beats, LostAlone make music not noise and shove any preconceptions of a genre right off the stage.

Following on from the buzz of their support band, INME take to the spotlight for their Glasgow headline show. After successfully releasing new album ‘The Pride’ on Pledge Music, INME’s Glasgow show in Stereo is in one date in a lengthy UK tour to promote the new album. The Pride showcases a more mature and an (only!) slightly calmer sound from the band, but still incorporates all the qualities of a hard-working and efficacious band. Tonight on stage, INME put 100% in to their set as they tie up their new release with a live show.

INME are reassuring loud tonight, playing every track with full force. They open their set with a verbal introduction “there will be new songs tonight, and some very unusual choices of old songs too”, before smashing through a very fast performance. INME stay very true to their word this evening, choosing a satisfying concoction of songs to include in the show, the highlight however remaining firmly inside the new album ‘The Pride’.

As already mentioned, lead vocalist Dave MacPherson does not seem to hit the notes as well as their support but maybe this correlates directly with the pressure of a 35 date UK within 37 days? The vocals tonight seem somewhat forced or a little drained, but there is still no doubt that Dave’s voice is one of the most influential in his genre. Tonight’s set from INME was a welcome comeback after their 3 year break since Herald Moth was released in 2009, and they are currently showing no signs of them slowing down.
