Scarlett & The Pixels

'Sea Of LCD' is the debut offering from new forward-thinking techno pop act Scarlett & The Pixels. The London-based solo act's opening statement is a bold one that reveals not only a deep understanding of the constructs and sonics of underground dance music but also a love for the evocative melodies and lyricism of classic pop music. The track in question is a delicate homage to the early 80s synthpop of Depeche Mode and New Order. This is analogue soul with a dark heart. 

Daniel Avery AKA Stopmakingme, has carved himself an impressive reputation as a DJ, producer and in-demand remixer. With a residency at internationally renowned club Fabric, releases on Bang Gang 12s, RemuteD and Kill Em All and remixes for Metronomy, Black Devil Disco Club and Hercules & Love Affair to a name but a few, he is making an indelible mark on the world of house and techno. He delivers an accompanying remix picking apart the sentiment of the original he rewires it into a slow-burning 4x4 astral voyage.

Prodigiously talented young German producer Etnik delivers a dark dub remix driven by a powerfully re-enforced rhythm section. Built on the unrelenting kick pulse, the remix brings out the track’s anologue warmth and twists it into an altogether deadlier and more streamlined shape cast for the dance floor.


Scarlett Etienne rounds off the remixes carving out a warping anologue-heavy techno remix that shatters the original and rewires it as an acid tinged warehouse killer. Name-checked by the likes of Sasha (who named her “Breakthrough DJ of 2008” in the Top 100 issue of DJMag), signed up to represent Pioneer Pro DJ, and dressed by fashion heavyweight Matthew Williamson, she’s equally at home in the dance press as she is in Vogue. A self-produced, synthesizer-obsessed, multi-instrumentalist, with DJ gigs spanning from underground techno institution Watergate in Berlin, to the official Formula One party at KudeTa in Singapore, diversity is at the heart of Scarlett's sound.

On the B-Side, ‘Spark’ acts as the perfect counterpoint. Driven by the same spirit as ‘Sea Of LCD’ it is gifted a charged energy by the intertwining layers of surging synth swells and glimmering melodic touches. The glittering sexually-charged synth-pop gem gets a rework by 21-year old London DJ, Lemmy Ashton who tightens it up to work on a peak time dancefloor. Influenced by his parents collection of Disco as well as Prince, Janet Jackson and recent releases on all your favourite record labels, Lemmy Ashton has been making waves throughout the London club scene. With his remixes and original tracks gaining radio play and being named as BBC's introducing artist of the week on multiple occasions, he is certainly part of the new breed of young producers and DJs coming through the ranks.
