Chris Helme (Best known for being the lead singer of John Squire`s post- Stone Roses project The Seahorses) has been busy over the last several years working on solo material and performing with his own band The Yards. The latter seems to have disbanded for the time being as Helme concentrates on his Second solo album due out next month.

So here is the first single from that upcoming record called `Pleased` and I`m pleased to report it`s a triumphant return to form, a dark, brooding track that evokes visions of a blusey, smoke-filled poker room full of Jack Daniels and a beautiful dame dealing the cards.

Vocally Chris jumps from somewhere between Jim Morrisson and Jeff Buckley. His voice has matured over the years and is sounding better than ever and his live shows have cemented that reputation. The song is lyrically astute and the guitar has a classic feel to it with some nice subtle distortion towards the end.

All in all a great song and hopefully a nice taster of things to come. Chris Helme will be playing Pivo Pivo, Waterloo St, Glasgow this Wednesday 29th December where he will be playing songs old and new including his especially epic version of `Blinded by the Sun` support comes from Tragic `O Hara, The Girobabies and The Huskies. Tickets available from Tickets- Scotland or on the door.

You can stream and download `Pleased` at the link below. The single comes with a live video and an exclusive interview. Highly recommended.
