For those not aware / who have forgotten, Eoghan (pronounced Owen - yes really) was one of the X Factor finalists last year. His boyish charms and OK'ish vocals got him through to the last 4 or 5, and therefore the chance to sign with Simon Cowell.
After a relatively short period of time his debut album is with us, although surprisingly, it has been released after Mothers Day (target audience missed?).
The album contains one new song - the current single 28,000 Friends, and 10 cover versions, many from the X Factor shows. However the end result is not spectacular. Many of the covers should have been left well alone - High School Musical's 'We're All In This Together' sounds weak, as does Take That's 'Never Forget'. ABBA's 'Does Your Mother Know' is really cringeworthy, and not designed for a 16 year old boy to sing.
Robbie William's 'She's The One' fairs better, but is one of very few highlights. 28,000 Friends is Busted material, and again sounds OK. It would probably have been better is Eoghan dropped half the covers and added similar new material.
Not a bad talent, but it is mostly wasted on here.
